GSE builds a 43,770 m² logistics platform in the port of Dunkirk
Commercial real estate and logistics specialist GSE was chosen by the Société de Développement Axe Nord (SDAN) to build a 43,770 m² logistics warehouse in the Port of Dunkirk.
The warehouse will total 41,830 m², divided into six storage units and 1,380 m² of offices. Two car parks with 126 spaces for light vehicles and two parking areas complete the complex, which will be used by a logistics company or a shipper to establish a distribution centre, following its handover in January 2023.
The project’s BREEAM certification to the Excellent level is pending. This high-quality approach puts the project’s design and construction in line with the highest environmental standards. The building’s energy performance and low consumption are ensured partly by 300 m² of solar panels for self-use and by rainwater recovery to supply the building.
The wellbeing of the building’s future users is central to the project, including in the acoustics of the commercial areas and the emphasis on thermal and visual comfort. Similarly, the site will encourage access by soft modes of transport, providing electric vehicle charging stations and amenities for cyclists. The project aims to fit in with its environment and to promote biodiversity, thanks to an environmental engineer’s contributions to all the landscaping work.
The distribution centre is part of a broader development project totalling 400,000 m² over the next seven years. It will eventually link the port of Dunkirk to the entire hinterland, as far as Paris, via the Seine Nord-Europe Canal.
