However before the facility can be used we must construct it: “Our goal: zero accident.”
GSE have appointed a Health and Safety Manager to achieve its objective, through the development and implementation of a safety culture.
Working autonomously, the Health and Safety manager carries out a site audit and can instigate a range of actions from training, to the immediate closure of the site if necessary. He reports to general management, coordinates training and manages the actions of his team on GSE sites worldwide.
His actions are based on two priorities:
- issuing best practice procedure,
- raising safety awareness to all construction staff and the subcontractors.
The principles and procedures recommended by GSE are listed in a charter, which is an integral part of the contractual documents binding GSE, clients and sub-contractors. The Health and Safety manager is responsible for updating this document based on the ever changing technological needs of construction.
Monitoring the frequency of all accidents will evaluate the effectiveness of the prescribed steps. Identifying the cause of every accident will define the preventative actions needed to update the charter.
Using GSE procedures means that construction site accidents can and must be avoided.
