Client’s brief

Within the framework of a new generation distribution park initiated in 1998 on the “Isle-d’Abeau” site, ProLogis has placed orders with GSE for more than 260 000 m² of building space.

As with the other platforms already built, this storage facility for Darty involved numerous demands:

  • great flexibility in storage area,
  • smooth efficiency of rail and road transportation with dedicated rail spur and truck yard of 35 metres, a door for approximately 700 m²,
  • building design with provision for a future office extension.
Project description

The Darty building was the follow up to a project which was started in 2003, but was then halted due to the lack of an occupier.

The initial warehouse construction stopped once the frame had been built and the foundations already constructed.  The difficulty was therefore to adapt a ready-made factory produced structure to a completely different project.  Efforts were therefore made to enable the maximum use of existing framework.  >> read more

Testimonials

Grégory Blouin, First Vice President, Project Management Southern Europe, ProLogis:  “The building as originally planned did not entirely suit the requirements of our client Darty.  GSE was able to propose technical solutions to modify the project and accommodate Darty’s wishes, even whilst the works were being carried out.
It is a great success and we are very pleased with it.”

Paul Devesa, Logistics Director, Darty: ”From June 2003 onwards GSE, ProLogis and Darty met frequently to build a project integrating the specialist aspects of our professions...” >> read more

François Bierer, Project Manager, GSE:  ”It is thanks to teamwork between Darty, ProLogis and GSE that a project as complex as this one was able to be carried out within such a short time schedule.  The success of this operation was ensured by the ability of all parties to take responsibility for their own areas of intervention.  A perfect command of our respective professions combined with a rapid response to issues arising were the determining factors.”
